Mark EdingtonMark Edington is the Vice President of the International Program Management Department of Save the Children Federation, Inc. (SC/US). Mr. Edington manages over 5,000 staff working in more than 50 countries to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of quality programs reaching more than 60 million people with a budget of approximately $300 million. Prior to this, he served as Director of the organization’s Economic Opportunities Office for five years, overseeing the growth of SC/US’s microfinance programming and providing technical assistance in program design and impact measurement to country offices. During his tenure, SC/US increased the outreach of its microfinance network from 15,000 to 220,000 poor entrepreneurial women. Mr. Edington has held several management positions with SC/US, including Asia/Middle East Program Operations Director, based in Westport, Connecticut; Middle East Area Director and Jordan Field Office Director, based in Amman, Jordan; and Pakistan/Afghanistan Field Office Director, based in Islamabad, Pakistan. He has worked in more than 50 countries on short-term technical assignments in management, microfinance, program evaluation, finance and internal control systems. Mr. Edington is a Chartered Accountant and qualified with Coopers and Lybrand, London. He holds a BA in German and Italian from London University and speaks fluent French. |
