Joseph Feuer, Executive Director

Joseph Feuer joined the Society for International Development-Washington (SID-Washington) as Executive Director in August of 2007. Previously, he was Pact’s Country Representative for Ukraine and Belarus (2005-2006) and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs’ Country Director for Georgia (2004-2005). From 1996 to 2002, Mr. Feuer served as Program Manager for European Affairs and Transition Economies at the United States Council for International Business in New York. In the years following the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Feuer served as a political adviser to the leading Czech political party and a public relations consultant to companies invested in Eastern Europe, and started the first walking tour company in the country in the post-1989 period. Mr. Feuer has also worked as a legislative and campaign aide for Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia College and an M.I.A. from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Stacy Whittle, Communications/Program Director

Stacy is responsible for leading the development and implementation of all communications' strategies for SID-Washington. Building the value of the SID brand, striving for 100% member satisfaction, and greater member acquisition and retention are the driving forces of her life at SID. Stacy has extensive public relations, marketing, and management experiences at organizations like The Culture Vultures, an arts organization which she co-founded in 2004, in Manama, Bahrain; Save the Children, where she worked as the Program Manager for the International Education Unit; and the Institute for Social and Economic Policy in the Middle East at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, where she was Project Manager for the Harvard Middle East Water Project. Stacy is also a professional actor and has performed on stages, and appeared on television, in the U.S., Ireland, and Bahrain. She graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Anthropology and holds her MPA from The Monterey Institute for International Studies with a concentration in International Economics. Stacy has lived in Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Ireland and Bahrain. She speaks fluent Spanish, and is proficient in Italian and Arabic.

Janine Kamwene, Progam Manager

Janine Kamwene joined SID-Washington as Program Assistant in September 2008. Prior to joining SID-Washington, Ms. Kamwene worked in public relations and public affairs, first as a fellow for Widmeyer Communications where she was part of a crisis management team dealing with corporate social responsibility in India. Afterward, Ms. Kamwene was an Associate for Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter and Associates, working with a diverse array of national and international clients. She graduated from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service in 2007 with a Culture and Politics degree that centered on third world politics and development.

Manoli Strecker, Membership Coordinator

Manoli joined SID-Washington as Program Assistant in October 2009. He is a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where he received a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, specializing in human rights, international refugee law, and international relations. Prior to that, he was a history and political science major at Swarthmore College. Before coming to SID-Washington, Manoli interned at the PRIME Ecumenical Commitment to Refugees organization, where he helped to prepare asylum-seekers’ affidavits for presentation in hearings to determine their refugee status. As an undergraduate, he also helped organize an immigrant advocacy group on campus that helped to connect student volunteers with organizations in need of translation assistance. He is fluent in modern Greek and has a working knowledge of Spanish. Manoli hopes to do his part to improve the basic living conditions of the global refugee and economic migrant community, and believes that a career in international development and human rights is a fruitful approach.

Kimberly Vinci

Kim is a current graduate student working on her Master’s in International Commerce and Policy at George Mason University.  She recently graduated from the University of South Carolina where she received a BS in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Public Health.  New to the D.C. area, Kim is interested in working with global development concerning underdeveloped nations and public health issues.  After studying abroad in Tanzania, Africa, she realized the dire need for continued international support and aid focused on the developing world.  After completing her Master’s, Kim hopes to have a future working abroad and in the US to help further international communication and gain knowledge of developing nations and their unique cultures.

Jonathan Broide

Jonathan is a recent graduate of Davidson College where he earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. While studying abroad in Cape Town, he spent time teaching in the impoverished Khayelitsha township and also conducted an independent research project on the impact of the 2010 World Cup on political and economic development in South Africa. In addition to international development, his main areas of interest include African politics, conflict resolution, and philanthropy.
