Carolyn joined SID-US as a Program Associate in January 2024. At SID, she supports membership relations and initiatives, as well as the organization’s event programming.

Carolyn is a Mexican-American senior, majoring in International Relations and Global Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Previously a journalism major with an interest in becoming a foreign correspondent, her time as an Editorial Intern for Malala Fund introduced her to the work of international development, leading her to change her professional goals. This led her to intern in various institutions, such as Ubongo Learning and Jerusalem Peacebuilders, while also holding student leadership positions at UT. A first-generation college student, Carolyn aspires to pursue a career within the development field, where she has interests in addressing education inequity abroad and approaching development through a locally-led development lens.

Aside from her professional life, Carolyn enjoys photography, crafting, and seeking experiences outside of her comfort zone
