Kourtney Pompi brings more than 24 years of international development experience in over 50 countries to the design, implementation and evaluation of projects that provide citizens with the tools and information needed for them to actively engage their government and press for fundamental freedoms, as well as greater transparency and accountability. Kourtney currently serves as the Director of Civic Engagement at Counterpart International. Kourtney has significant experience in program management and design with significant technical skill in the following areas: citizen engagement, electoral participation, community empowerment, peace building, social cohesion, thinking and working politically, and inclusive development programming. Specifically, Kourtney has experience in program design, training support, materials development, and evaluation in: advocacy, community organizing and empowerment, civic and voter education, international and domestic election monitoring, coalition-building and networking, organizational development, inclusion of vulnerable populations, participatory budgeting, parliamentary monitoring, access to information and open data. Previously she held staff positions or consultancies with Camris International, Creative Associates, Democracy International, International Alert, International Organization for Migration, International Republican Institute, National Democratic Institute, Nonviolent Initiative for Democracy, Social Impact, the US Department of State’s Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.
